Can you really make money in stock photography today?
I read an article about a photographer who tracked 100 photographers who sold shares for a particular line, the company's stock. It is estimated that the average income was 17 cents per month for each picture so if you have eg 100 photos with a company, you earn $ 17 x 12 = $ 204 per year. Given that it takes so long to put in keywords, upload, etc, which is not much. Then I read an article from someone who said that $ 20,000 per year with their stock photos. There is something strange about these numbers. I pretty much have given up trying to find out how much can be done even with excellent photos as each body that claims about that seems to have some agenda. What is the truth?
I earn about $ 5.00 a month making actions. It's enough to keep a bottle of wine or two, but nothing even close to life. People who make a reasonable extra income in stocks will go up incredibly beautiful, signed-off, Hi-Rez model released images of interesting people.
